Outdoor Kitchen Installation in Los Angeles

An outdoor kitchen turns grilling into an event and the backyard into the heart of the house. We plan and build outdoor kitchens with the layout, surfaces and appliances that suit how you actually cook and entertain.

Overview

Designed around the cook, built for the guests.

The best outdoor kitchens are planned like indoor ones: a sensible work triangle, enough landing space on both sides of the grill, storage where you need it and seating that keeps guests close without crowding the cook. Then there are outdoor-specific decisions about shade, wind, smoke direction and durability in sun and weather.

We help you size the kitchen to your space and your habits, whether that’s a compact grill island with a prep counter or a full kitchen with grill, side burner, refrigerator, sink, bar seating and a pizza oven. Many clients pair the kitchen with a pavilion or patio cover for shade.

Planning & installation

Planning an outdoor kitchen.

Layout and placement. Consider prevailing wind and smoke, distance from the house, access to the indoor kitchen and where guests will gather.

Clearances. Grills require clearances from combustible materials and overhead structures as specified by the manufacturer. Covered kitchens need careful ventilation planning.

Gas, electrical and plumbing. Grills, side burners, refrigerators, lighting and sinks need utilities. Gas lines, new electrical circuits and plumbing must be installed by appropriately licensed professionals and typically require permits. We’ll explain what your design needs and how that work will be handled before anything is built.

Cost factors. Size, construction method, countertop and finish materials, appliances, utility runs, shade structures and site conditions.

Permits. Outdoor kitchens with gas, electrical or plumbing connections generally require permits, and covered structures may too. Requirements vary between the City of Los Angeles, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena and other jurisdictions.
