Custom Gazebos Built for Your Garden and Your Home

When a standard gazebo won’t fit the space, the style or the way you want to use it, a custom gazebo can. We design gazebos with the proportions, roof form and materials that suit your home, then build them to last.

Overview

Designed for your space, not adapted from a box.

A custom gazebo starts with the setting. A Spanish Revival home might call for a tile-roofed retreat with heavy timber posts; a mid-century house suits a low, flat-roofed pavilion; a cottage garden may want an octagonal gazebo with delicate detailing.

Because the structure is designed for your yard, we can size it precisely around a dining table, sectional or spa, align it with views from the house, and plan electrical, lighting and fans into the design rather than adding them afterward.

If a quality prefabricated gazebo meets your needs, our gazebo installation service is a more economical path.

Planning & installation

Design and permitting considerations.

Size and height. Larger or taller structures are more likely to require permits and plan review, and may need engineered drawings.

Roof weight. Tile and heavy roofing need a structure designed for the load.

Fire safety. In very high fire hazard severity zones, construction requirements may affect roofing and framing choices.

Cost factors. Size, shape, roofing, materials, foundation, utilities and finish details. Custom structures generally cost more than prefabricated gazebos, and we’ll be clear about the difference.

Permits. Whether a permit is required depends on your city and the specifics of the structure — its size and height, whether it attaches to the house, its distance from property lines, its roof type and any electrical work. Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena each have their own building departments, while addresses in neighborhoods like Studio City, Sherman Oaks or North Hollywood fall under the City of Los Angeles (LADBS). We’ll help you understand what typically applies before you commit, and the local building department always has the final word.

A custom gazebo is designed and built for your space, with dimensions, roof form and materials chosen for your home. Kits come in fixed designs and sizes.

Often, yes. Matching roof pitch and materials can tie the structure to the house, though heavier roofing materials require a structure designed to carry them.

Larger or more complex gazebos may require drawings and engineering for permitting. We’ll let you know early if your design is likely to need them.
